Friday Favorites

Pharrell Joins The Voice - This makes SO much sense to me. He is arguably the hottest name in music after last yearNo. Brainer.

Newmania - This weekend commences the official bachelorette festivities for one, Amanda Newman.  This should be....interesting.

Starbucks Low Calorie Iced Coffee + Milk - I have a problem.  A daily, I am now heavily reliant on this to start my morning, type of problem.

Baby Maker - I'm so excited to announce that Brandon and I are....SIKE! I got you guys, huh?!  In reality, Sunday brings the showering of Baby Yoyo! He will be making his debut in late May (we are told...).

Sharks Win! - Thursday marks another Oceana victory! This time, the California law that prohibits the selling and possession of shark fins in the state was challenged, but upheld in court. Look how happy they are!

Throwback Thursday

Check out this hot little number, daring to take her OOTD next level in that yellow on yellow suspender look. Nailed it!

This week's Throwback Thursday features what can only be described as an extremely unfortunate haircut, but pairs quite nicely with confidence and ability to go big or go home. Suspenders aside - that shirt?!  BOLD MOVE, KID, BOLD MOVE!

Which poses the question, Who Wore It Best: Suspenders Edition?

In this clash of Bill Lumbergh vs. Adorable Childhood Style Icon, I think it goes without saying who takes this one. Sorry, Bill. I'm gonna go ahead and get you a copy of that memo, Mmk?

Overalls. Are. Back!

Can you believe it?  It's like Christmas in spring, you guys. I'm so busy trying to crawl out of the worst winter of my life to even know if this is true or just a mirage. Warm weather cannot get here fast enough!

Always a fan of a one piece in any variety, I was a frequent offender of the overall craze back in the 90's. Corduroy, denim, khaki - you name the material in which it was available, I owned it. If only I had proof... Cassie - a little help on this one?!

Better question - why did it take so long for this epic trend in fashion to make a come back?! I didn't even realize I missed it until I walked by one of my favorite boutiques to find a mannequin in the window, decked out in denim, calling to me like a siren. I was able to maintain self-control (not making any impulse buys) - also I did not have my wallet, but I'm definitely going back!

I'm already hard at work conceptualizing how to style my overalls for when I'm finally able to wear them!

Simple, fun, comfortable! I know what you are thinking...this can be tricky to pull off without looking like a farmer. And maybe you ARE a farmer, in which case that is also entirely acceptable. Just be confident and rock it - it will totally work!

HIMYM

FINALLY!  It's over. To say this season made it really difficult to remember why I have stayed so committed throughout the 9-season run would be putting it lightly....

Initially, I was one of the millions of fans who was extremely disappointed in what I was watching last night. I felt misled in the same way I did when LOST ripped my heart out. Oddly enough, many critics shared these same sentiments as I found in reading the many reviews today - one from the very reputable, Jason Hyland:

That said, and now that I have had the chance to process everything, I think I am more understanding with what played out on screen - though I still feel it goes against everything the show has taught us to date....

In what was otherwise a somewhat unrealistic portrayal of adult friendship - daily meetings in bars despite growing older, having careers and raising families - the series took it upon itself to throw an extreme dose of reality our way to end it all.  I think that's why everyone has such issues with it - it was always so dramatized and that's what we all wanted to believe.  By giving us a reality check, despite actually staying true to the core story line that has followed its way through the series since episode 1, it was just too much for us to handle.

In the end, it will forever live in syndication.  There are too many good things about the 9-year run to throw it all away on a finale that did not play out as we all had hoped - but let me stop myself there...  Didn't it really end how we all wanted it to all along?  Ted and Robin?!

Friday Favorites

T-Zero Countdown App - have you seen this thing?! It is amazing. You can set it to count down to even the second before your plane takes off!

EL Ideas - we have reservations there with friends this weekend. It is supposed to be fun and interactive - I will let you know if they allow me into the kitchen to play sous chef!

Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant - yep, I'm one of those. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I just read all three of these in about three days in preparation!

Broad City - these girls are just....I don't even know. Hilarious does not even do it justice. Think: female Workaholics.  With Amy Poehler as Executive Producer, how could this possibly be bad?!

Louisville Cardinals - so I did not win my billion dollars as expected, but the Cards are my last glimmer of hope to win some cash in my work bracket pool. This guy has it right:

Remember When I Started A Blog?!

February 14th.  Valentine's Day.  Not of 2014, but 2013 rather. That was the last time I had the slightest interest in posting something on here. Oops! Perhaps lack of interest was not the real issue, but....

.....I have already lost interest in this post.

See, I think that was the problem all along, right? It is incredibly difficult to come up with fun, new blog posts to keep my three loyal followers entertained when I am not even interested in what I am writing about. So. Much. Pressure.

I enjoy the name of my blog entirely too much to run the risk of having someone steal the domain name if I were to delete it. In an effort to breed success, I have decided I will not give up that easily. Instead, there will be some new "guidelines" implemented.

  • Be Yourself - I always was, but I feel I was often overly cautious with every word I wrote. I definitely wouldn't say I was holding anything back per se, but in the same regard I know I thought way too much about every last detail. I don't know why? You have obsessive compulsive disorder, that's why.

  • Have A Strategy - Probably my biggest downfall when I started this mess. What the hell am I blogging about?  Truth is, I was blogging without any sense of direction. Not that there needs to be a specific avenue to follow, but there was no underlying theme or topics of interest. So what do I intend to start writing about now? Good question....

  • Write About Things You Care About - Ding, ding, ding!  I love....Food, Travel, Fashion....and some other stuff too - like my Family and Friends, I guess? Why not write about all of them and sprinkle in some personal anecdotes along the way? DONE!

  • This Is A Hobby, Not An Obligation - I did not set out on this little project to discover a new career path. I did this for no other reason than the fact that I actually just like to write. I was in desperate need of a creative outlet - one that work cannot fulfill - and this was supposed be all in good FUN!

  • So Who Is Ali? - Honestly?  I am a lot of things: Daughter, Wife, Sister, Friend, Mother to a fur child....but mostly? Lover of Life.

I guess this was a long-winded way of saying, "Welcome back!" I direct this mostly to myself, but I will be so kind as to extend it to the rest of you as well. Cassie, Mom, Dad....Katie (are you there?!) you can all finally stop complaining that I have not posted to my blog in months years.
