Throwback Thursday - Independence Day!

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday of all time. It's also the one time of year I find myself actually missing my hometown. Sure, Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world, but they simply do not know how to celebrate the 4th to the level a small town can.

A few years ago, a group of us agreed that we needed to take it back to our roots, celebrating in the way we all had grown up doing - fireworks and sparklers included. So we opted for a lake getaway in Door County. It was the closest thing I have experienced to my childhood 4th of July celebration memories and we had such a phenomenal time.
